Chetak Foundation has partnered with GMR Varalakshmi Foundation by Signing an MoU to work together in the area of Health, Road Safety and Skill Development..

Chetak Foundation, the CSR arm of Chetak Logistics, has partnered with GMR Varalakshmi Foundation by Signing an MoU to work together in the area of Health, Road Safety and Skill Development. The MoU was signed by Mr. Arun Arora, Head and Director of Chetak Foundation and Dr. Avanish Kumar, Director-CSR, GMR Varalakshmi Foundation, in the presence of Mr. Sachin JKS haritasH, Director of Chetak Foundation and teams from both Foundations. The partners propose to take up activities on the charter of both institutions. These include road safety awareness programs, general health check-ups and eye check-up camps for driver communities at GMR Highways airports and other locations. The partners would also collaborate for the logistics courses and short-term skill training programs for underprivileged unemployed youth at various vocational training centers run by GMRVF.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ashwani Lohani, CEO of GMRVF, said, "We have had a great experience conducting joint social activities with Chetak Foundation. We are delighted to take it to the next level as we sign between GMR Varalakshmi Foundation and Chetak Foundation to build upon our mutual strength and synergies our noble efforts. I am sure our shared values and this initiative will help the beneficiaries, including the drivers, youth, and the public at large. We hope such initiatives inspire more organizations to join for such noble causes".

Mr. Sachin JKS haritasH, Director of Chetak Group, said, "We are delighted to build upon the shared vision of Chetak Foundation and GMR Varalakshmi Foundation as we enter into a formal agreement to work together. We hope this alliance will help the less privileged get a better quality of life. Our father, Late Shri JK Sharma, created livelihood opportunities for thousands of people and was passionate about helping the underprivileged people in society. We want to convey our appreciation to Dr Ashwani Lohani and the entire team of GMRVF for joining us in our common objective of enhancing job safety and creating employment opportunities."

Chetak Foundation has conceived specific interventions to enhance beneficiaries` experience. Some of these include Oxygen Plus (an environment initiative), Swasthya Plus (a Health initiative), Shikha Plus (an Education initiative) and Zindagi Plus (a Road Safety Initiative).

Besides GMRVF, Chetak Foundation has also tied up with Delhi Skill & Entrepreneur University, VisionSpring, Sir Ganga Ram, Max & Fortis Hospitals, Delhi Metro, IOCL, Honda Motors, Haryana Government and CRPF for its health, nutrition, environment, and road safety projects.

Chetak Foundation was bestowed with the CSR India Award for Skill Development, CST Times Award for its Health Initiatives and ESG Award for Social Impact.

About Shri Jai Karan Sharma, Founder Chetak Group:
Mr. Jai Karan Sharma was born in a farmer`s family in Jhinjhar, a small village in Haryana. Starting from scratch, he set up Chetak Logistics in 1979 and built Chetak Group into the leader in Logistics in India. Mr. Sharma brought in the latest technologies and management techniques in Logistics. He excelled as a self-made entrepreneur who relentlessly pursued inclusive growth. He was numerously recognized as Transport Rattan and Transport Samrat (AIMTC), Outstanding National Citizen (NSG), and Rastriya Udyog Rattan (LOBRD).

He left for his heavenly abode in October 2020.

Posthumously, he was bestowed with the title "The Logistics man of India` (Alden Global) in 2021. India Post issued a stamp in his honour to recognize his contribution to the nation`s socio-economic development in 2022. Mr. Sharma was also honored with the "Lifetime Achievement Award" at Social Impact Award by Brand Honchos in 2023.
